SOLAR FAQS

FAQs: FAQ

HOW MUCH DOES SOLAR COST?

The cost of solar varies significantly due to the fact that you are replacing your energy usage with solar power. THE MORE ENERGY YOU USE, THE BIGGER SYSTEM WE WILL INSTALL TO OFFSET YOUR USAGE. Average size solar systems are typically between 30K-60K. Large homes or commercial systems could be 100K or more.

DO I HAVE TO PUT MONEY DOWN TO GET SOLAR?

At AMP SOLAR, we offer ZERO DOWN financing options with loan terms up to 25 years and interest rates as low as 2.99%. Terms and interest rates are subject to credit approvals.

WHAT IS NET METERING?

NET METERING is when the utility company provides a 1-to-1 credit for the power that you produce with your solar system. This is how you can ELIMINATE THE ENERGY CHARGES from your electric bill. You may still have a connection fee and local taxes from your utility provider, but we will design your solar solution to OFFSET 100% OF YOUR ENERGY USAGE, reducing your energy costs to ZERO.

ARE ALL SOLAR PANELS THE SAME?

This is a COMMON MISCONCEPTION. There is a rating system that solar panels receive and most panels on the market today are rated as "Tier 1" panels. However, that does not mean all solar panels are the same. There are SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES in the QUALITY of the construction, the EFFICIENCY of the panels, the WARRANTIES, and the DEGRADATION of the panels over time.

WHEN I GET SOLAR INSTALLED, WILL I BE OFF THE GRID?

Most people that get solar installed today remain ON THE GRID. Having a GRID-TIED solar system ensures that you ALWAYS HAVE POWER, such as at night when the solar panels aren't producing any power. An OFF-THE-GRID setup is much more expensive. It requires a larger solar system and several batteries to store power to ensure that you always have enough power for your home.

HOW LONG DO SOLAR PANELS LAST?

Most quality solar panel manufacturers GUARANTEE a certain amount of PRODUCTION for 25 years. However, the panels are designed to LAST LONGER than 25 years. Because solar panels are incredibly DURABLE, STATIONARY, and require VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE, the panels will likely REMAIN EFFECTIVE for many years past the 25 year warranty period.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY SOLAR SYSTEM INSTALLED?

Solar installations can usually be COMPLETED in 60-90 days. The time it takes to obtain necessary inspections, permitting, approvals, etc. will be dependent upon local organizations being timely with their processes, and this is ultimately what determines how long it will take. ONCE ALL THE RED TAPE IS COMPLETE, the actual installation of the panels usually only takes a DAY OR TWO. Larger home projects or commercial projects can take longer than a day or two.

IS MY SOLAR SYSTEM COVERED BY A WARRANTY?

Most solar panels come with a 25 year warranty. Solar inverter warranties vary by manufacturer, but are typically 10-25 years. Then there is the WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY. This is the LABOR portion of your solar warranty and is backed by the solar installer you choose. 10 years is the solar industry standard for workmanship warranties, but we offer our customers a FULL 25 YEAR WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY. With AMP SOLAR, you can rest assured knowing that your entire system is fully covered for 25 years!
